16.Tag - The Great Barrier Reef

Oh mein Gott, war das geil! Man hat ja doch schon so einiges vom Great Barrier Reef und seiner einzigartigen Schönheit gehört, aber dass das alles wahr ist, hätten wir trotzdem nicht gedacht... Wir könnten euch jetzt ne Menge Krams über das Reef erzählen, aber belassen wir es lieber bei den Fakten. :-) Es hat eine größere Artenvielfalt als der Regenwald, die Korallen brauchen eine bestimmte Wassertemperatur um zu überleben, deswegen auch die großen Sorgen wegen des Klimawandels und so, man kann es sogar aus dem Weltall sehen, es ist ca 2300km lang und an manchen Stellen bis zu 80 km breit... ich glaub das reicht an nutzlosem Wissen ;-)
Wir sind da also schnorcheln gegangen von so nem “Pontoon” aus. Das kam einem son Bisschen wie ne Ölplattform vor, nur dass dort kein Öl, sondern Touris gefördert werden ;-)
Naja zur richtigen Zeit kann man dort quasi alles an Meeresbewohnern beobachten, angefangen von den unzähligen Fischen, über Manatees (Seekühe) und Meeresschildkröten bis hin zu Buckelwalen. Stell sich das mal einer vor!!!




Oh my god, this was so amazing! We've heard a lot about the Great Barrier Reef and its non-comparable beauty but we never thought that all of it is true... We could tell you heaps about the Reef but since we want you to read all we'll restrict it to the basics :-) The Reef has a greater diversity than the rainforest, the corals need a certain watertemperature to survive, hence the all the worries due to global warming, one can see it from the space, it has a length of 2300km and is 80km wide at some points... I think that's enough of random trivia ;-)
We went snorkelling from a pontoon. It looked a bit like one of those oil platforms in the sea. The only difference was they weren't looking for oil but tourists ;-)
If you get to the Reef at the right time you can basically see every animal living in the sea: heaps of fish, manatees (sea cows), turtles and humpback whales.
Isn't that incredible?!?!
